Ensley wildlife control tip of the month: Everything You Need to Know About Chipmunks

Chipmunks are well recognized as small-sized squirrels that are common in most Ensley exterminator cities of the United States. People often fall in love with their cute faces, and many even prefer to keep them at home as pets. They are very adaptable creatures and hence can survive easily in various environments irrespective of weather conditions and living circumstances.

Appearance:
Chipmunks are often observed to have a maximum size range up to 11 inches, but in most Ensley animal trapping cases, they are found somewhere between 7 to 10 inches. You can easily identify them with the two long stripes on their body that grow up to the end of their tail. These stripes are generally white in color and surrounded by darker border as compared to the color of the rest of the body. The fur can be grayish, brown or even red. Chipmunks have small claws, but they are trained climbers.

Diet:
If we talk about the Ensley wildlife removal dietary habits of these tiny rodents, they are known to be omnivorous creatures. Although they are not so picky about their eating habits, they too have some favorite stuff that they prefer to eat more frequently. In most common cases, you can find them eating nuts, buds, fruits, and seeds. You may also find them eating some type of grasses, plant matter and shoots of some herbaceous plants. Other than this, they can also attack arthropods, frogs, insects and bird eggs. In case if they are nesting in the urban areas, they can target grains and vegetables in garden and yard area. This is the main reason why chipmunks are also considered as pests.

Behavior:
Chipmunks are frugivore animals that mean they prefer to eat seeds and fruits. Ensley animal control experts say that their favorite food is hazelnut and they can often climb up larger trees to get some hazelnuts and acorns. In the autumn season, these tiny creatures start storing some food, and in most common cases they prefer storing seeds. The main reason behind choosing seeds is that they do not decompose and can be eaten for a longer time. As chipmunks need to stay so long in their burrows, so these seeds serve them up to the spring season.

Habitat:
If we talk about the habitat of chipmunks, they often prefer to stay in woodlands and forests. There is no doubt to say that they love wood and at the same time they need to store food while protecting themselves from predators. Hence, they often prefer to create nests in the wooded areas. As they are very adaptable creatures, so they can easily survive in wooded forests as well as in the city areas.

Lifecycle:
Chipmunks prefer to mate in the spring season; however, few of these Ensley pest control species also wait for the summer season. These tiny creatures can give birth twice a year, and at once they can have 4 to 5 young babies. The young babies stay in the nests for a few weeks, and mother chipmunks keep on caring for them until they become independent.
